Materials
100% Lyocell
Buttons: natural corozo nut
Lyocell is a smooth, soft fibre made from wood pulp, with a slightly cool feel. It is breathable and wicks moisture well, so it stays comfortable where polyester can feel sticky. It is strong, and the fibre is biodegradable.
Corozo is a hard, creamy-white nut used for buttons, often called “vegetable ivory.” It comes from the seeds of tagua palms, mainly grown in South America. It feels smooth, solid and slightly warm, and it can be dyed, carved and polished to look like horn or bone. It is durable enough for everyday wear and washing, though it can crack if knocked and may fade or swell with prolonged heat or soaking. Compared with plastic buttons, it isn’t made from petroleum and doesn’t shed microplastics. As a plant material it can biodegrade. The nuts are harvested from fallen seeds rather than felled trees.
